Breeding restrictions Crossing of Abyssinian and Somali allowed but shorthaired offspring will be registered as ABY with ‘var’ for variant incorporated into registration number. Non-silver progeny of silver Abyssinian may only be used for breeding with silver Abyssinian, they may NOT be bred with non silver Abyssinian.

Short haired progeny of Abyssinian x Somali may not be bred into the Abyssinian population.
    Abyssinians should not be bred from cats that demonstrate disqualifying faults, veterinary defects or extreme variation from the Standard of Points.
